Digital Storytelling Module

     When my teammate and I were discussing the story, we both wanted to make a story about a princess. To make the story become more educational for young students, we decided to talk about different cultures because we are both from different countries. We actually create the story together. But for the pictures, one of us is in charge of three countries, the other one is in charge of the other two countries and the others, such as the cover page and introduction page. During the collaboration, I learn that we should listen to each other’s’ opinions. Also, when we have a problem doing the project together, we should tell each other our feelings. Sometimes when we keep other feelings in mind and don’t let your teammate know, he or she can’t understand your feelings. Therefore, talking to each other is a way to communicate. When we are doing the work as a pair, we face some challenges. When we are writing about the story mountain, we don’t really know what the climax of the story is. Then, we make an adjustment to the story by adding culture shock to make it the climax.

 

     For the story content, we use ChatGPT to give us some examples of famous cultures in different countries. Then, we pick some of the examples of famous cultures that are provided by ChatGPT to put them in the stories. But we actually write the stories by ourselves. For the pictures, we were thinking about using GPT to create them in the beginning. But one free account can only make three pictures and can’t guarantee that the pictures can be perfect the first time. So, we choose to use Canva to create the pictures because school accounts provide pro items for free. I am most proud of the character and the recording. Because the character is actually made from our minds, we both love princesses and the color pink. For the recording, although I know that it can’t be “perfect,” it takes me a lot of time to record. For the technical challenges, it is that when we combine the book, only the account that combines it can make adjustments. Due to the fact that our parts are kind of separate. So I need to arrange the pages.

 

     The most meaningful part of this book for me is writing a story proposal. Because when I and my teammate are writing it, I can get to know more about other different cultures. Also, when writing the storyboard, I can have a plan for what I am going to talk about on each page because I am definitely not going to put a lot of content on one page. In my opinion, I think that this project makes me think more for my future students. For example, I can create a story not only teaching about English but also about some other cultures to make students learn many things at the same time in a relaxing way by reading a book.
